Landscape 2017
work note
What possesses the force to move the soul or life? The boundary between the living and the non-living, or between the pure subject and the simple object, is perceived and imagined in vastly different ways. Therefore, there is no ultimately objective definition of a correct distinction. However, this boundary is not merely a subjective issue. Ultimately, I believe this boundary plays an important role in the material relationship between nature and humans.
The idea that nature harbors a soul or subjective character is often rejected or ignored in modern society, which is dominated by rationality and reason. Nevertheless, I believe this idea still deeply influences our lives today. Instead of simply viewing objects as unattractive or subjective, it is essential to first understand the context surrounding the landscape (nature).
The photographic representation of landscapes (nature) begins with the premise that images construct, reflect, and traverse these boundaries. Consequently, this work aims to explore how these boundaries are reflected in the process of aesthetic subjectivity and objectivity through photographic representation. It also seeks to present various perspectives on landscape (nature) photography through these aesthetic processes.
